I created MAISILK in Berkeley, California with a vision of creating beautiful fashion & lifestyle products from silk, cashmere, and natural materials using her weaving, tailoring & hand embroidery skills she has acquired and been cultivating since her childhood. I grew up in Hanoi, Vietnam, which is the center of silk weaving and sericulture (silkworm production) in Southeast Asia for over a thousand years. Surrounded by beautiful textile, colorful patterns, and the irresistible magic of hand embroidery art, I had developed a strong passion for silk weaving, tailoring, and hand embroidering since a very young age. I learned how to weave and hand embroider from my grandmother and have been using the same tools ever since.
