Meresia's Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize, as well as a solar light.

Meresia's Group's story

Meresia is representing a group of 14 farmers from Alego District. She is the woman who appears in the photo. Meresia is 63 years old and has five children. She has been a farmer for more than 20 years and is often referred to as a very resourceful person.

Meresia isn’t new to One Acre Fund. She actually joined the program in 2017 and has since noticed her life has changed, especially in the sense that she has been able to consistently feed her family. This year, Meresia will not only get fertilizer and maize seeds as part of her loan, but she will also purchase a solar light. She is very excited about this addition since now she will be able to have light during the dark hours for her children to be able to study.

With this loan, Meresia's group will purchase a total of eight solar lights and use the farming inputs received to plant a total of 5.25 acres.
