but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy ingredients to make beignets.

01_Ndianda Coumba Group's story

The group that these strong women belong to was founded in November 2011. They share good relationships and are united in their support for one another. Their main activity is trade, and they have mastered borrowing, having repaid several loans successfully.

Madame Ephigénie, the group's leader, is standing on the right in the photo with her hand raised. She is 60 years old, single, and has 5 grown sons. Madame Ephigénie sells sweet and salty beignets. She gets her ingredients at the village market and sells her beignets from her home and at the school. She has over 20 years of experience, and her business is successful because children love her beignets.

Madame Ephigénie will buy bags of flour, black-eyed peas, onions, sugar, and other seasonings, including garlic, pepper, chili peppers, tomato, etc. She will use her profits to cover her family's expenses and contribute to savings groups. Thanks to past loans, she has been able to purchase furniture for her bedroom.
