La Ceiba De Coatepeque Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy corn and firewood for her tortilla shop and products for her store.

La Ceiba De Coatepeque Group's story

Dora is a single 49 year old mother of 3 children, who range in age from 16-23. All of them study in high school! Four years ago, Dora opened her convenience store. Two years ago, she began to make and sell delicious corn tortillas at lunch and dinner time. There is a lot of competition and Dora strives to be innovative because she really needs the income. She sells everything from cheese to brooms!

Dora is requesting her 3rd Kivaloan to buy corn and firewood for her tortilla shop and products to restock the shelves of her store.

Dora is also the Secretary of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “La Ceiba de Coatepeque” in a warm area in the department/state of Quetzaltenango. There are 7 other ladies in the group who sell meat, tortillas, firewood and have convenience stores. At their monthly meetings, the women make loan payments and participate in educational sessions, part of the “Microcredit Plus” program of loans, education and health care services. A visiting nurse offers all kinds of exams (blood pressure, blood sugar, PAP smears) and services (family planning consults). The educational sessions are imperative for their success and include information about health, family, women and business.

It would be impossible for Dora and her friends to walk into a bank to secure a loan. Thank you, Kiva lenders, from all parts of the world for funding these much appreciated loans!
