Ratha's story

Ratha, age 35, is married and lives with her family in the area of Bakan district, Pursat province. Ratha and her husband work together in the agricultural business, owning and managing few hectare of farmland growing and harvesting rice crops and seasonal produce. She has responsibilities for operating the machinery to prepare land, till soil, build ditches and levees, and harvest rice crops. She can earn approximately of USD $5 per day to support her family's living needs and save some money for future needs.

Because of the shortage in her finances, she has applied a loan of USD $1,250 to pay for fill around her house to cover the mud, providing her family members with a better environment. In the future, she aims to renovate her old house and purchase more land for agriculture purposes. She sends thanks to all lenders who have contributed their funds to help a poor person like her and she believes that through her hard work and perseverance she will be able to attain a better standard of living someday.
