Chiperez Group's story
Doña Octaviana A. L. is married with 3 sons and 2 daughters. She works selling scarves and table clothes which she purchases from wholesalers who travel to the US. She took the idea of commercialising this type of product from the Aldea de Chivarreto market, and she also sells with the traders who travel to the different municipalities of Huehuetenango. Octaviana also breeds white pigs and sells them in the municipal market in San Francisco el Alto in the Totonicapán department. Octaviana is a very enthusiastic person who has managed to move her family forward and has the help of her husband who sells typical clothing. Together the 2 of them have managed to cover their family costs. They have taken the initiative to form a group with the objective of seeking a loan to amplify their working capital and extend their sales to obtain better earnings, and in this way improve the living conditions of each person. They live in Paraje Chiperez, in the area Chivarreto, in the municipality of San Fransisco el Alto, in the Totonicapán department.
