A loan helped to buy hybrid seeds to improve her crop farming.

Askah's story

Askah, 35, is the mother of two school-going children. She was born into a close-knit family that had very few material possessions. The challenges she went through did not affect her dream of wanting to be successful. She was very keen to learn farming skills -- the only thing she inherited from her parents.

She is hardworking and a go-getter. She has defied all odds and been engaged in farming for the past few years. Her primary sources of income are crops and animal farming.

Askah is content with the farming way of life. She is a very enterprising woman and, although she never had formal education or formal employment, she has always worked hard on her farm and been able to provide for her family.

The Kitale area has favorable conditions for crop farming. Askah is seeking a loan to buy hybrid seeds to improve her crop farming. Because of good roads, a good climate, and a good transportation network, she is sure that she will reap maximum profits.

Being a woman and accessing funds in Kitale is very challenging. Nonetheless, Askah feels relieved knowing there are institutions like Kiva. She is reaching out to Kiva lenders for financial help.
