A loan helped to buy pandanus and mulberry for her weaving and tapa making business.

Petisili's story

This 54-year-old widow's name is Petisili. She is the mother of two daughters and has been a widow for ten years now. Petisili and her two daughters work together in running a weaving and tapa making business. She and her daughters join a group of women in their village for making tapas. Her daughters also help her with designing their tapas and getting it ready for sale.

As for their weavings, they conduct the weaving by themselves at their own home. Together they weave taovala and mats, then sell it out to earn income for their living. They also weave for their own personal use. One of her daughters advertises the work of their hands through social media, and it enables them to gain and retain customers. They also have customers from overseas, which they have been working with for years now.

Petisili applied for a loan to buy pandanus and mulberry for her business. They are planning on expanding their house so that when her daughters have their own families one day they can still live together.
