A loan helped to buy pandanus and mulberry for her businesses and to make a deposit on a new vehicle to use for her business.

Falekakala's story

Greetings from Falekakala. She is a 70-year-old separated mother to her nine children. Her husband left for overseas and never returned to her and their children. Falekakala spends less time in mourning for her pain. Instead, she works hard on her businesses of weaving and tapa making to provide for her nine children. Her husband left twenty years ago, and now her children have grown up and have their own families.

Falekakala still manages to run her business well and make her own money without relying on her children to provide for her. She weaves and makes tapa together with a group of women in their village once a week. They have the rest of the weekdays for weaving. Falekakala sells out of her products by exporting them to her daughter overseas where she can earn a better amount.

She applies for a loan to buy pandanus and mulberry for her two businesses and to make a deposit on a bigger vehicle to use for delivering her business to different locations.
