A loan helped to purchase baking ingredients in order to bake cakes and pies and increase her income.

Priscilla Toka's story

Priscilla Toka is a 50-year-old mother of five; two of her children are grown up and the other three are of ages 23, 14, and 11. Priscilla Toka sadly lost her son of 23 years in late November 2020. The cause of his death is still uncertain. Priscilla Toka is happily married, and her husband is a local bus driver. Priscilla Toka lives in a village which is located about 20 minutes drive to Port Vila city. Her village is large, and the main industry is agriculture. Vanuatu's tourism industry was massively affected by COVID-19, and the government has turned its focus on agriculture, so making an earning off of agriculture has been quite satisfactory.

Priscilla Toka has asked for a loan to help her purchase baking ingredients so she can provide her customers orders of cakes and pies. Priscilla Toka wants to increase her stock as she has a lot of customers and running out of ingredients is not an option she like crossing paths with. More ingredients will help increase her revenue, which she will use to build her family their own home. Priscilla Toka has been baking for over ten years now. No one taught her how to bake, she is self-taught. This is her third loan with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd. She has been faithful in her previous loan repayments. Throughout her loans, Priscilla Toka is motivated to expand her business so her children can have something for their own.
