A loan helped to buy grain products and fruit to resell.

01_Santhie Serere Group's story

These brave women are part of the banc villageois established in July 2006. They live in the same village and are united by shared certain values such as family, neighbourliness, and solidarity. They primarily run businesses selling various items.

Oumanatou is the group representative, standing on the far left of the photo with her arm raised. At sixty-two years old, she is married and the mother of six children, including two sons and one who attends school.

Oumanatou sells grain products and fruit. She works at the village market and at her home. She stocks up from wholesalers in the neighbouring city and resells to customers. She boasts twenty years of experience in the industry. With her loan, she plans to buy six bags of millet, two bags of semolina, one bag of corn, one bag of monkey bread, five pails of peanut butter and cases of fruit (melon, watermelon, mandarin oranges) that she will resell at a decent profit.

She has a good and faithful customer base as she is friendly and offers high-quality products. With her profits, she will build up her savings within the banc villageois, pay for her children's school fees and contribute to daily expenses.
