A loan helped to pay for land fill around his house.

Sovann's story

Sovann is a 58-year-old married man with six children living in Ta Lou Senchey District, Pursat Province. He is a conscientious rice farmer who owns and manages around two hectares of farmland. He works with his spouse, earning in the vicinity of $6.00 USD each day. He has been doing this for almost 13 years. Rice farming provides all of his family’s income. He aspires to achieve financial stability and provide his children with comfortable living conditions. With his many years of experience, Sovann is an expert in taking care of his rice crops and ensuring abundant harvests each year, except for the year of a big flood. However, the way he does farming is still based on the traditional method.

Because of the shortage of his finances, he has applied for a loan of 8,000,000 KHR to pay for land fill around his house. With this loan, he can pay for land fill and can provide his family members with a good environment, fresh air, and can protect them from illness. He will also be able to cover the mud around his house. When the process of land filling is finished, Sovann plans to grow vegetables and raise some poultry to collect and sell in the local market. He plans to save his generated income gradually for his business expansion as well as for his children’s education.
