Emmie Rebbeca's story

Emmie Rebbeca lives in a village that is 10 kilometers away from Port Vila city. Her village is quite large, and the main industry is agriculture. As the demand for local food and products have increased, making income has been good in spite of the coronavirus pandemic. Emmie Rebbeca is 62 years of age who is happily married to a local pastor and has three grown up children. She lives with her youngest son in a home provided by a relative. Her husband is currently working on the island of Tanna, which is 135 miles away from Port Vila city.

Emmie Rebbeca has requested a loan to help her purchase new pattern fabric, white fabric and fabric paint to stock up and better provide for her customers. Her customers are particularly from the islands of Malekula which is 108 miles away from Efate island and Epi which is 68 miles out. With the earned revenue, she will use to save up so she can start her own retail shop. Emmie Rebbeca has been sewing since 1981. She went to Fiji to attend the South Pacific Commission for a year to learn more about how she can improve her standard of living. She has been with South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd for over 3 years now, and this is her fourth loan. She has been faithful in her previous loan repayments. With her business operating, Emmie Rebbeca is motivated to expand her business so she can improve her family's living conditions.
