A loan helped Ana requests her 1st KIVA loan to buy a sewing machine!

Amor De Dios Group's story

Ana is a 24 year old single woman who is a talented seamstress sewing canvas pants. She has 3 different kinds of sewing machines enabling her to deliver 130 pairs of pants every 15 days! Ana has 3 different kinds of sewing machines enabling her to accomplish a specific task. She is requesting her 1st KIVA loan to buy a sewing machine in order to increase production. She is quite certain she will be able to meet her objectives with this new machine.

Ana, along with 7 other Maya K’iche women, is a member of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank “Amor de Dios” or “Love of God” in the department/state of Totonicapan. Every 2 months, a visiting nurse, who speaks their Maya K’iche language, visits them and offers them basic health exams and services. The nurse diagnoses symptoms, gives consultations and is sensitive to their needs. Every month, the women participate in educational training that are drawn from 4 relevant areas: business, health, family, women. These trainings are designed by a facilitator who uses pictures, diagrams, role playing and games to share the information. This is important because Ana and her friends have little or no formal education. This useful combination of loans, education and health care is called “Microcredit Plus”. It works!

These ladies send their gratitude to KIVA investors from all parts of the world who fund their much needed loans. Thank you to each of you!
