01_Randoulene Sud Group's story

This group of 6 hardworking women is part of a "banc villageois" that was established in the zone in May of 2009. They all live in the same neighbourhood and enjoy excellent social and professional relations. They are used to taking out loans and have already repaid several in a timely manner. Their main business is retail.

Ndéye Amy, standing on the right of the picture and raising her hand, is the group representative. She is 38 years old, married, and the mother of 7 children, 3 of whom are boys.

Ndéye Amy sells food. She gets dried fish at the weekly markets and resells it wholesale and retail at the market in her town. She has been in this line of work for two decades. She plans to spend all of her loan on baskets of dried fish to satisfy her customer demand.

Her profits enable her to buy gold jewellery, to build her savings, and to support her husband with the family expenses.
