A loan helped to buy fish products and vegetables.

01_Santhie Sereres Group's story

This "banc villageois" was established in July 2006 and groups together 7 women who live in the same village and who share solid values of neighbourhood, kinship, and solidarity. Their main business is retail.

Fatou, the group representative, is standing on the far left of the picture and raising her hand. She is 61 years old, widowed, and the mother of 8 children, 2 of whom are boys.

Fatou sells vegetables. She gets her products from the wholesalers and sells them retail at the village market. She has been in this line of work for over a decade. She plans to use her loan to buy baskets of dried fish, dried sea snails, bags of cassava, turnips, carrots, cabbage, peppers, etc., which she will resell for a decent profit.

She plans to use her profits to strengthen her business and contribute to the family expenses (food, healthcare), as well as to build her savings with the "banc villageois".
