Vasemaca's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!
A loan helped to buy construction items for her house, and the farming tools/equipment for a commercial farm.
The Pacific island region is a region of great diversity, in the size of the countries, their populations, resource endowments, the importance of agriculture, and environmental conditions. In almost all Pacific island countries, agriculture is an important, if not the most important, sector. The region’s benign climate is punctuated by climatic extremes as cyclones, floods and, more insidiously, droughts. These extremes of climate have far-reaching effects on land-use patterns and serious environmental consequences that require proper land use planning and watershed management. When the devastations of Tropical Cyclone Yasa caused Vasemaca’s commercial farm to be damaged in December 2020, she had to focus on surviving day to day for the sake of her family. In their communal efforts to recover since then, they have done much with the help of the government and NGO’s. She now seeks a loan to continue her business, to purchase construction materials for her house, and farming tools/equipment along with seeds to resurrect her farming enterprise. To live is to suffer, to survive is to find meaning in the suffering, and as a woman entrepreneur having to suffer through the economic recession of a national economy, and a natural disaster, Vasemaca is not one to back down from a fight.
