Saranatu's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 22-year-old Saranatu from Wilberforce branch. She is a single parent with a 1-year-old child. She started this business to care for herself and support her family.

Saranatu runs a retail business and sells food stuffs like palm oil, rice, oil, Maggie, pepper, onions, tomato, ground nut and other assorted items. She has been in this business for three years now. Her main challenge is slow sales sometimes during this COVID-19 pandemic.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase palm oil, rice, oil, Maggie, pepper, onions, tomato, ground nut and other assorted items to increase her business. Saranatu says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her business and take care of her family's welfare.

In the future, she would like to establish it into a larger scale business. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
