Josephine's story

Meet Josephine, 33 years old. She is living together with her partner and two kids, ages 10 and 14 years old. Both of her children are in school and live at home. Josephine attended school up to twelfth grade. She runs a business as a main source of income, preparing rice and bread and also selling soap. For the past 10 years, she has been managing her sales and describes herself as a strong businesswoman. She sells six days a week and nine hours daily. She feels proud of her business because it gives her fast profits.

Josephine applied for a loan through BRAC Liberia, a Kiva field partner. The loan will be used to buy more ingredients that will be used to prepare rice, bread and soap to sell to her good clients. This will enable her to meet her customers' demands and increase her net income. In the future, Josephine wants to give her children a good education. She wishes to say thanks to all lenders around the world.
