Judith's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy more materials for her sewing business.

Judith's story

Judith is a 34-year-old entrepreneur who lives with her husband and five children in the Sesheke District of Zambia. She is a tailor who typically makes dresses from Chitenge material (a local fabric) for the women in her community. With her first Kiva loan, she replenished her inventory, which increased her sales and now her business is thriving.

Judith is requesting a second loan to expand her business by buying more sewing materials to meet her customers' demands. She plans to use the profit she earns to pay her children's school fees and buy food for her family. Judith will repay the ‘social interest’ on her second loan by volunteering three hours per week as a CAMFED Learner Guide. Her duties will include facilitating classes from CAMFED’s ‘My Better World’ program with students at her local secondary school, helping to build the children’s self-esteem, and motivating them to remain in school.
