Las Hormiguitas Group's story

Las Hormiguitas is a group made up of 6 members, they are entering their 6th loan cycle. They are very enterprising, hardworking, and honest. They are always looking to improve and get better opportunities for their families' wellbeing.

The officers are represented by the treasurer, María, the president is Evelyn who accompanies and leads, with the secretary being Luz. As can been seen in the photo, due to reasons of the pandemic, there are only these three, representing the group.

Maria, 28 years old and the treasurer of the group, is a young mother who has a 5-year-old little one and has managed to raise her little one on her own. She is very courageous, cheerful, honest, and responsible and has great desire to continue getting ahead. Her greatest support is her mother, who supports her in caring for her little one in the mornings when she goes out to work.

She belongs to the market association and there she has been given a stand where she sells ceviche, leche de tigre [a ceviche beverage], and chilcano [a mixed drink], and everything fish-related. She gets up very early in the morning to go to prepare and sell her dishes until midday, because she cares for her little one in the afternoons.

At this time, she asks for her loan from Kiva to purchase fish, onions, potatoes, and ingredients to cook various dishes fish-related and offer them to her customers to improve her income. She has as a goal to have her own retail space and to continue investing in her small business.
