Hawa's story

Greetings from Sierra Leone! This is 40-year-old Hawa from Wilberforce branch. She is married with four children between the ages of 10 and 15 years old, and three of them are currently attending school. She started this business to care for herself and support her family.

Hawa runs a retail business and sells rice, pepper, onions, Maggi, oil, palm oil, okra, ogiri and other assorted items to her customers around the community. She has been in this business for 10 years now. Her other source of income is from her husband's business. Her main challenge is slow sales sometimes during this COVID 19.

She requested this loan through BRAC Sierra Leone to purchase more provisions like rice, pepper, onions, Maggi, oil, palm oil, okra, ogiri and other assorted items to increase her business. Hawa says that the extra income from this loan will help to improve her business and take care of her family welfare. In the future, she would like to establish into a larger scale. She says thanks to BRAC and Kiva for their support.
