Yessenia Monserrate's story

Yessenia Monserrate and her family live in Portoviejo, a city affected by the earthquake on April 16, 2016 and now by the COVID-19 pandemic. The city is rich in the production of vegetables, legumes, and tropical fruits for domestic consumption.

At her house, Yessenia Monserrate works making a variety of foods such as lunches and event buffets, which are ordered ahead of time. Her customers in general pay 50% when they place the order and the other 50% when she delivers the food. She also makes snacks such as empanaditas, meatballs, cheese sticks or sausages, merengue cookies, etc. The days she works the most are the weekends, which is when there are social events. She personally makes the home deliveries.

During the health crisis, she stopped selling but she is reopening the business gradually. This loan is to purchase a variety of meat, sausage, flour, rice, cooking utensils, etc. Her dream is to have a catering business for social events and that her family is very healthy.
