Seruwai's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy construction materials for home repairs and stocks of groceries and fuels to continue a canteen business.

Seruwai's story

Standing in the room that once served as a thriving business setting for a canteen from which she served her customers, offering shelter, and a hot meal to any that came by, is a mother who has lost a lot. Life was simple and Seruwai was quite content as she carried out her daily chores while running her home operated business.

Everything changed drastically for the worse when the COVID-19 pandemic caused a cataclysmic reaction in the economic world that caused a 75% decline in tourist arrivals to Fiji. With Tourism as Fiji’s highest foreign exchange earner, the economy fell into a recession of 20% negative growth.

To add insult to injury, Tropical Cyclone Yasa hit Seruwai’s village during Christmas. The damages to her home and canteen were very serious.

She seeks a loan to buy construction materials to repair her home canteen and also the stocks of groceries and fuels to ensure that her canteen is fully operational again.

The difficulties in life make us better and not bitter. A loan would truly help Seruwai’s family as they try to return to some form of normalcy, and hope for better days.
