Asena's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy construction materials and stocks of fruits, root-crops, and vegetables.

Asena's story

As the rains poured and the winds blew on that December morning of 2020, 4 families took shelter in Asena’s home. On a hill, her house served as a beacon of hope and an anchor of safety as many escaped the wrath of tropical cyclone Yasa as it raged through the village. Many were left homeless and forced to flee to the nearest evacuation center.

Asena noticed how the men were the first to scope out the damages, and when they returned to her home, they brought coconuts and vegetables as their find. Many of the families have been able to repair their homes as they attempt to return their community to some form of normalcy. In the wake of another global catastrophe such as the COVID-19 pandemic, the economy has also suffered a recession, which prompted Asena to diversify her business.

However, the mother of 4 continued to recollect on how the men brought back vegetables that fateful morning as they gathered at her home. Conclusively, she has continued her fruits and vegetables business, selling at the local market.

She needs a loan to purchase a few construction materials for minor repairs to her home before taking advantage of the discounted prices of fruits and vegetables from the farmers. A loan would ensure that Asena can provide for her family, and there is no force more powerful than a woman determined to rise.
