Virisila's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy construction items to repair her house, and fruits and vegetables for her market stall.

Virisila's story

The women entrepreneurs of Fiji are struggling with the twin effects of the Fiji economic recession (20% negative growth) and the devastation brought about by Super Tropical Cyclone Yasa that hit the northern islands of the country in December 2020.

Virisila, however, is more than just a woman entrepreneur. She is a wife, mother, sister, mother-in-law, and grandmother.

She has been a smiling face at the municipal market for years, selling her fresh fruits and vegetables to her loyal customers. She is also a survivor of Tropical Cyclone Yasa and hopes to continue her business as soon as possible.

She has been the backbone of her family ever since her husband retired and became sickly. Her two daughters, although married, have always assisted in any way possible.

Virisila needs a loan to repair her home, which sustained damages when the cyclone hit. She also plans to buy a wider variety of fruits and vegetables from the farmers to be sold at her home and at the market as well.

The most important factor in survival is neither intelligence nor strength, but adaptability, and a loan would help Virisila and her family adapt to these financially trying times.
