A loan helped to buy quality farming supplies, such as nutrient-rich fertilizers, to use on her corn crop.

Beatrice's story

Beatrice is the 37-year-old mother of 4 school-going children. She loves and enjoys farming. Over the years that she has practiced mixed farming, Beatrice has been able to provide a good and decent life for her family. She is a competent farmer growing different varieties of crops.

When Beatrice learned about Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva, she became interested. In Kenya, agriculture is one of the most competitive industries, especially because of the high cost of operations necessary to improve farming. Such costs include prices for land acquisition and supplies, which have skyrocketed. To meet high supply costs, farmers have been forced to borrow from financial institutions that sometimes impose very complicated procedures for loan distribution.

Beatrice has requested a loan so that she can buy quality farming supplies, such as nutrient-rich fertilizers, to use on her corn crop. With these supplies, Beatrice will be assured of a good harvest that will be reflected in her pocketbook. This loan will be a turning point for this mother during 2021.
