but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy cereals, which she plans to resell and make more profit from, to support her family during this tough global economic recession.

Joan's story

Joan is a 25-year-old mother of one child living in Eldoret, a town that was significantly struck by the 2007–2008 Kenyan crisis, when violence occurred in Kenya. She is a resourceful woman who has farmed for the past 10 years.

Joan is seeking this loan to buy cereals, which she plans to resell and make more profit from, to support her family during this tough global economic recession. Unlike banks and other local moneylenders, which operate mainly in urban centers, Juhudi Kilimo (a Kiva field partner) has extended its operations to the most remote areas of Kenya, creating opportunities for different people to access loans. Joan is looking forward to your positive response to her loan request. Empowering a woman is a very important tool to foster development during this International Women’s Day season.
