A loan helped to buy pandanus and hire a group of women to help with her weaving.

Kaufo'ou's story

Kaufo'ou is a 22-year-old single mother to one child. She lives with her daughter at her parent's house. She and her mother run a weaving business, for she learned weaving skills from her mother. Together they can weave mats and taovala, using white pandanus only, then sell it at the local market and also overseas to earn money for their living. Weaving helps her provide for her daughter's needs and wants.

Currently, her mother is in a bad health condition and she needs help with her weaving. Therefore, she applied for a loan to buy pandanus and to hire a group of weavers to help her with her weaving. Having her mother being sick is a very big loss to her because her mother is her main helper. But with this loan, she will be able to hire helpers. A better environment and a good life for her daughter to grow up in is her dream.
