A loan helped to buy certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers to expand her crop farm.

Rose's story

Rose is 45 years old and has 6 children who attend school. She lives in Makutano, a remote area located on a gentle plain before the ascent into the central highlands of Kenya. She is a mixed dairy and crop farmer who injects passion and determination into her work. She is a committed and devoted farmer who depends entirely on her farming business.

Rose requested a loan for 40,000 KES, which she will use to buy certified seeds and nutrient-rich fertilizers to expand her crop farm. By scaling up her business, she will reduce production costs and increase output. Her strategy is to use the returns from the investment to pay for more farm inputs. A lack of farm inputs has been a major problem that leads to the closing of many farms due to poor quantity and quality of yields. Rose should, therefore, be able to increase her profit. She will use some of her earnings to pay for her children's schooling.
