Ilisapeci's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy the stocks to continue a fruits and vegetables business and building materials.

Ilisapeci's story

Life after a natural disaster is like being stranded with your family on an island. Somehow, pursuing comfort or riches fades away as survival becomes acutely necessary.

In times such as these, one immediately realizes that all he or she needs are his or her basic needs, that being shelter, clothing, food and water.

Ilisapeci and her family faced the question of how they would get their sustenance from after tropical cyclone Yasa swept through their district. The grandmother of six was very grateful that their house survived the disaster with minor damages.

Many prayers were answered when relief efforts could reach the affected, and since that fateful December morning in 2020, the villagers of Naodamu have made significant progress in their recovery efforts.

Ilisapeci now seeks a loan to continue her fruits and vegetables business that she knows will be of great help to her community, as many had lost their food preparation utensils/equipment.

The emergency conditions that also arose after tropical cyclone Yasa, such as power and water cuts, led to the damage of electrical appliances, especially fridges.

The grandmother is confident in her business being profitable during these financially trying times, as she knows that “you don’t need a silver fork to eat good food.”
