Jenneth Jenny's story

Jenneth Jenny is a 49-year-old mother of four. Her children are ages 23, 22, 16 and 11. Her two youngest are still in college. She is happily married to a security guard, who is a fun loving and helpful husband. Jenneth Jenny lives with her husband and children in their own home, which is located in one of the largest residential urban areas in Port Vila city. Her community relies on the food industry for income, but as Covid-19 has been affecting Vanuatu's tourism industry, it has been hard to earn a stable income.

Jenneth Jenny has requested a loan to help her pay for new plain white fabric, fabric paints, and sewing materials that she needs to meet her customers’ demands. She wants to make new kinds of dresses to attract more customers to her handicraft room. Jenneth Jenny learned to make dresses at a young age from her elder sister. She has now been sewing for over 20 years.

She joined a group of women who love sewing and work at a local handicraft market, which is situated in the heart of Port Vila city. They sell their products to the locals and visitors that pass by. With the revenue she earns, she will build some home units, which will become extra income for her home. She will also build a storefront in her compound for her sewing business in order to sell her products. Jenneth Jenny is motivated to expand her business so that she can become a successful businesswoman.
