Las Florecitas Triunfadoras Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy fabric, scissors, cones of thread, zippers, and buttons.

Las Florecitas Triunfadoras Group's story

Carmen, a 37-year-old married mother of 3 children, is a clothing designer with an 8th grade education. She is proud that each of her children go to high school. Ten years ago, she began her business of designing women’s clothing. Eight years ago, she opened her own shop. With a KIVA loan, Carmen will be able to buy fabric, scissors, cones of thread, zippers, and buttons.

Carmen is the secretary of the Friendship Bridge Trust Bank, composed of 8 other women. They live in a coastal area in the department/state of Retalhuleu. The ladies have businesses selling fruit, jewelry, dairy products, and clothing. There is even a member with a beauty salon.

They enjoy their monthly meetings when they offer each other support, make loan payments, and participate in educational training sessions, a part of the Microcredit Plus program of Friendship Bridge. Topics are relevant to their lives and are drawn from 4 areas: business, health, family, and women. They are especially important because these ladies have little or no formal education. Every 2 months, they have access to basic health care services delivered by a nurse. Carmen and the women in the group appreciate this service because the health care system in Guatemala is quite poor.

KIVA investors play a vital role in the lives of Carmen and the women in the Trust Bank. Thank you to each of you!
