Siteri's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy building materials and the stocks to continue a fruits and vegetables business.

Siteri's story

As people struggle to make ends meet after an economic recession, or after a natural disaster, the need for survival overshadows the want to live comfortably. And for one to survive, all he or she needs are his or her basic needs. These include shelter, clothing, and the daily sustenance of food and water.

Being a rural dweller all her life, Siteri knows nothing else as life in the village involves enjoying the simple things of life as they live harmoniously with Mother Nature. However, like any mother, she also showed her wrath as Tropical Cyclone Yasa swept through the northern islands of Fiji.

As a survivor, this grandmother hopes to get back on her feet by continuing her fruits and vegetables business. Siteri needs a loan to buy building materials and the vegetables and fruits that she knows will be in demand as many shops have been closed with people’s homes damaged. Fruits and vegetables are easy to prepare as a meal and require very little time or utensils to cook and serve. They are the obvious healthier choice as well.

Granting Siteri a loan not only means that a family is helped, as women have been proven to invest a higher proportion of their earnings in their family and community. So, help for Siteri is help for her community.
