Amelia's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy building materials and frozen foods stocks and pay an appliance repairman to fix deep freezers in order to continue business operations.

Amelia's story

After natural disasters, emergency conditions arise, in which water and electricity is cut off, roads are closed, and food preparation equipment and tools are damaged. Therefore, provision of emergency food (as ready-to-eat food products) for the survival of the injured and relief workers is crucial.

As the survivors of Tropical Cyclone Yasa emerged from their safe shelters, they were met with such devastation as lost homes and properties, damaged farms and livestock.

For Amelia however, her business took the second bludgeon in just a year. As a woman entrepreneur, the mother of four operates a home-based business selling frozen goods such as meats. She was without exception when the COVID-19 pandemic made vast waves throughout the whole financial world, with the Fijian economy suffering a 20% negative growth in recession.

To add insult to injury, TC Yasa ravaged through the northern parts of Fiji, and although her home is still intact, her business operations had to cease as her products were damaged because of the power cuts.

She needs a loan to resurrect and continue her business after she buys some building materials to repair her home. Amelia needs to buy more frozen food stocks and also pay an expert to fix her deep freezers.

Amelia is hopeful for the future and is very keen to begin her business again. She understands that the best preparation for tomorrow is doing your best today.
