Emilse Rosa's story

Emilse, 44, is a small-businesswoman from the city of Barranquilla. She has a business where she sells fast food, including fried food and beverages. Her business partner started up the business about 20 years ago in a different location. Later, 3 years ago, she saw that there was demand in this neighborhood for fast food, fried food, and beverages. It was at this point in time that she entered into a partnership with Emilse and launched this business.

This business has been successful from the start, and over time it has gained market share. Sales have increased, and this has driven the need for more equipment and employees. Today, Emilse and her partner have 4 employees who rely on this job for their only source of income.

Because of the pandemic, sales fell, and Emilse experienced a drop in her income. But thanks to the reopening of the economy their sales are now increasing. Emilse is seeking to mitigate the impacts of the pandemic by requesting this loan from Kiva and the Fundacion Santo Domingo. She will use the funds to buy vegetables, beverages, deli products, meat, a grill, and other supplies. Support her with this loan for her business, it will be a success!
