Ahmed's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to restock the shop with a variety of food items in bulk.

Ahmed's story

Ahmed is a skilled refugee entrepreneur of Somali descent who owns and runs a retail grocery store business within one of the locations at the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. He arrived in Kenya in 2008 and soon started the business to provide himself with a stable means of livelihood.

The store is located in a strategic location and fetches a good number of both refugee and host community clients on the regular. The business is currently experiencing steady growth and employs three individuals who help in the daily operations and currently exhibits potential to employ even more with continued growth and support.

Ahmed is seeking additional financing from AEC to propel further growth for his business. He intends to restock the shop with a variety of food items in bulk so as to make use of the economies of scale.

This will allow him to keep serving the community with a variety of food items for consumption while at the same time keep supporting the business to employ more people from the community.
