A loan helped to restock the shop with a variety of food and grocery items in bulk.

Siyad's story

Siyad is a skilled refugee entrepreneur of Ethiopian descent who owns and runs a grocery food store within one of the locations in the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya. He started the business in 2014 to provide his family of eight with a stable source of income.

The business has experienced tremendous growth over the past few years as it continues to build itself a rich base of loyal clientele. The store currently employs two staff who help in its daily operations and has the capacity to employ even more people as it keeps growing.

Siyad is seeking an external financing from AEC to propel further growth for the business. He intends to restock the shop with a variety of food and grocery items in bulk so as to make use of the economy of scale. This will allow him to keep serving the community with a variety of items for consumption while at the same time keep supporting the business and employ more people from the community.
