Damaris' Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer to improve harvests of maize.

Damaris' Group's story

Pictured above is Damaris, often described as an extremely experienced farmer. She is 58 years old and has 5 children. As a group leader, she is representing her group of 11 farmers in Lugari District, Kenya.

Damaris is returning this season to work with One Acre Fund again as this means that she is able to earn enough to send her children to school, which is why she decided to join in the first place. Damaris says that she is happy to have made that decision because, since she first joined in 2015, she has been able to save more money, which has improved her day-to-day life significantly. Damaris will use the profits from this season to buy more land to cultivate in.

The group will use this loan to purchase seeds and fertilizer to plant a total of 9.25 acres. Given that some members of the group will also be purchasing solar lights, with this loan, the group will also receive a total of 3 solar lights.
