Gatwech's story

Gatwech is a widely-known, skilled and seasoned entrepreneur with years of experience to his name. He is a refugee from South Sudan who owns and runs a series of wholesale and retail grocery stores within the Kakuma Refugee Camp in Kenya.

With a small initial starting capital, Gatwech’s expertise has seen him tremendously revamp and grow the businesses over the past few years. He has ventured out into water-tank supply business within the camp and currently supplies to a number of the agencies around. This has allowed him diversify his income sources.

Gatwech largely attributes the growth experienced to the two loans he received from AEC as evidenced by his employing three new staff to help out in the operations.

He is looking to employ even more as the business expands further. A loan to Gatwech will see him restock the grocery shop with a variety of food items to continue serving the community with a variety for consumption.
