Philis' Group's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase hybrid seeds and fertilizer for the cultivation of maize.

Philis' Group's story

Philis, pictured above, has been a farmer for 18 years, and is now proud to represent her group of nine farmers in Teso District. She is 42 years old, married and has four children.

Philis likes to think of herself as a very experienced farmer. She has been working alongside One Acre Fund since 2015 and decided to represent her group because she wanted to spread the story of One Acre Fund farmers. She says that being part of the One Acre Fund community has meant that she has gained a lot of respect in her community. Philis plans to use the profits from this coming season to send her children to school.

In total, Philis’s Group will receive inputs to cultivate 3.25 acres of land. Given that some members of the group will also be purchasing a solar light with this loan, the group will also receive a total of four solar lights.
