Nirmala's story

Mrs. Nirmala M., 35 years old, lives in Thecho. Thecho is located in the Lalitpur district of Nepal. Thecho is one of the less developed areas of Lalitpur. Most of the people in this region are engaged in farming. Mrs.M. lives in a nuclear family with her husband and two sons. Her older son is studying in grade 10 and the younger son is studying in grade 6. Her husband's name is Tari Babu M.. He is a carpenter and opened his furniture-making shop 9 years ago. All the requirements of their family must be met with only the shop’s income. With her loan from Kiva, her husband was able to purchase wood supplies for her small furniture shop. Now Mrs. M. is requesting a second loan of NPR 10,000 to buy timber to be able to fill their orders for furniture. Her husband makes different varieties of furniture such as beds, tables, chairs, and wardrobes.
