Ruta's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy building materials and the stocks to continue a canteen business.

Ruta's story

As Tropical Cyclone Yasa raged through the northern islands of Fiji, its victims like Ruta could do nothing but take refuge. Tears were shed when the cyclone passed and it was then that people realized that mother nature not only blesses or sustains, but she can also pour her wrath upon humanity.

However, amidst catastrophic events there are often people who show kindness and resilience. There have been many stories of how landlords have cancelled rent and how people have re-introduced the Barter System in their bid to lend a helping hand.

Rita lost her home and many of her belongings during the cyclone and needs a loan to implement her recovery plan. She needs to buy building materials and the stocks of groceries and fuels to resurrect and continue her canteen business. The mother of 2 hopes to start afresh and implement a disaster and risk management plan to reduce any chances of being stifled by unforeseen circumstances.

Ruta is a firm believer in preparing to prevent, rather than not repairing, only to repent. A loan would begin the journey to preparedness for the future and it would gird Ruta with tools that will empower a woman, a family, a community and a struggling economy.
