A loan helped to buy fabric and cosmetics products to resell.

01_Dvf Cite Pilot Group's story

This group is part of the banc villageois established in November 2008. It includes ten women who live in the same neighborhood and are a tight-knit social group. They are all in sales and have repaid several loans at maturity.

Khoudia, at right in the photo, dressed in yellow and raising her hand, is the group's representative. She is 49 years old, married and the mother of two male children who are adults and working.

Khoudia has a small business selling fabric and cosmetics products that she buys at the central market and resells door-to-door. She has several years of experience in this activity and has had a lot of success. Her business works well because she knows her customers.

She plans to use her loan to buy 25 12-yard lengths of wax cloth, 12 lengths of dyed fabric, body lotion and packages of bath soaps to resell on credit; the payment will be made in the form of small tontines. Her income will allow her to save in the Banc Villageois and help her husband pay for the daily expenses. She will also use her income to renovate her house.
