Estevão's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to build a vegetable processing plant.

Estevão's story

Estevão is a 63-year-old Mozambican man. He lives in Tsangano, Tete province with his wife and their two children. Together with his wife, Estevão has been growing and selling crops since 2009. The business of production and commercialization of crops has helped him put his two children through school.

In 2018, Estevão benefited from his first Kiva loan to acquire three tropicalized greenhouses. This equipment allowed him to produce high quality veggies and to supply the market with fresh crops everyday. Thanks to that technology, Estevão is now a reference of horticulture in his community. He distributes the veggies to the supermarkets, grocery shops, and to other clients around Tsangano and Tete province.

Estevão is a visionary man, and he thinks of creating impact for himself but also for the smallholder farmers around him. Considering his portfolio of regular clients, Estevão decided to create a vegetable processing plant where he can buy a lot of veggies from the smallholder farmers around him in order to process the crops, adding value to the crops and more income to the smallholder farmers. Estevão is requesting his second Kiva loan so that he can build a vegetable processing plant.
