Washington's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to build structures to house his dairy animals.

Washington's story

Washington is 66 years old and lives with his family in Thika, a town where the main economic activities include agricultural processing, particularly with regard to horticulture and pineapples. He is a mixed farmer who has been farming for the past 40 years. Through farming, he has made his life meaningful.

Washington is seeking a loan to build structures that will be used to house his dairy animals. Unlike local moneylenders who charge exorbitant interest rates on loans, Juhudi Kilimo and Kiva have entered into a partnership that aims at improving the lives of smallholder farmers by providing them with loans and encouraging them to save. Through this intervention, the movement of funds into the rural communities has increased, thereby alleviating rural poverty.
