Lily Isabelle's story

Lily Isabelle is 39 years of age and is happily married. Her husband is self employed. She has two beautiful children of ages 17 and 3. Her eldest is currently in college and the youngest in day care. Lily Isabelle currently lives with her husband and children in her mother's house. She lost her father a few months back due to an illness and wants to be around her mother during these grieving times. Lily Isabelle and her family live in a village that is located along the southern coastline of Efate Island. Her village relies a lot on agriculture for income and food, so making income has been very good in spite of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Lily Isabelle has asked for a loan to purchase bags of kava so she can provide certain kilo's of kava juice and plastic plant pots so she can provide flowers for her customers and increase her income. She started off her kava business back in 2013, while her flower business she started in 2019. Kava is a ceremonial drink made from the root of the kava plant that is drunk during special ceremonies. However, kava has since evolved to become part of everyday society in Vanuatu – it is offered as a social drink for one to take after a stressful and tiring day at work. Lily Isabelle will use the revenue earned to build home units so her family can earn an extra income from.
