Leiwani's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to purchase plastic poly bags and different species of flowers in order to get a good harvest and increase her income.

Leiwani's story

Leiwani is a 73-year-old grandmother of 19. She has four grown up children and she, in turn, has those 19 beautiful grandchildren. She lost her husband five years ago due to an illness. She lives with two of her children in her own home which is located in a village that is a 20 minute drive off Port Vila. Leiwani's community is very large and the main industry is agriculture. Ni-Vanuatu rely on agriculture for food and income, so making an earning from it has been satisfactory.

Leiwani has asked for a loan so she can pay for different species of flowers and plastic plant pots so she can get a good harvest to better provide for her customers and increase her income. She has been taking care of her flowers as a hobby but has recently taken the step to make a business of it in early 2020. With the revenue earned, she will use it to renovate her old kitchen. Leiwani has been with the South Pacific Business Development (Vanuatu) Ltd for over a year now and this is her second loan. She has repaid her previous loan on time and, through her loans, Leiwani is empowered to expand her business so her grandchildren can have something to benefit from.
