A loan helped to provide working capital for his farm.

Emmanuel's story

Emmanuel is a well-established entrepreneur living in Rwanda. After a few months into his retirement, he decided to kick off his all-time dream of investing in farming and used his 12 hectares of marshland to grow paddy rice, a popular staple food in Rwanda.

Emmanuel has since captured the market and is one of the biggest suppliers of paddy rice in Kamonyi. He has hired three employees to work in the fields and has cultivated and established new irrigation systems. However, the pandemic hit Emmanuel’s business due to movement restrictions; he was unable to get suppliers to send seeds, supplies, and pesticides to help run the farming operations.

A loan to Emmanuel will help him purchase the supplies in bulk so that he doesn’t run short of supplies because of movement constraints in the cultivation season.
