Hortencia's loan finished fundraising,
but these similar borrowers just need a little more help to reach their goals!

A loan helped to buy a truck to deliver cereals to the market to increase her income.

Hortencia's story

Hortencia is a young entrepreneur from Messica, a small village in Manica Province.

She is a 21-year-old Mozambican woman with a long background in agribusiness. She started working in agriculture very young to help her parents and brothers. By the time she started making a good profit, she noticed that agriculture was an activity she could invest in more to gain more. Since she was unable to feed her clients with all the crops needed, she started to aggregate it from other smallholder farmers from her village.

But Hortencia's challenges didn't stop there. The storage became a problem since she didn't have enough space to store grains in her house. Thanks to the revenue of her sales from the first Kiva loan, Hortencia was able to build a small shop where she can store her grains. The shop is running well, however, many clients can´t reach her shop, so Hortencia needs to travel to deliver the cereals.

A vehicle would be of such great help for Hortencia. This is why she is requesting her third Kiva loan, to buy a truck to help her to deliver cereals to the market to increase her income.
